Conan, the Barbarian (2011)

Directed by Marcus Nispel

I wasn`t planning to watch this, ever…

I somehow  am not a big fan of  Schwarzenegger`s  Conan , and therefore, I didn`t plan on watching this. I also didn`t like the  actor who plays Conan in this, especially his face.

But since there isn`t much great stuff to watch lately, and the second season of Game of Thrones a few months away, I thought“why the hell not“.

To my surprise I was impressed with it, really.

Great images, very violent , brutal fights, and a few good actors kept me interested.

Since I`m not a Conan fan in general, I´m not able to pick on things real hard-core fans would pick on, I am not interested in that. All I know is, it kept me entertained for 2 hours straight.

Sometimes the CGI blood felt overdone, but I´ve seen worse.

It is a brutal tale, let me tell you. I probably liked the first half hour best, since that`s where

Ron Perlman is still there , as Conan`s father.

It only did like 20 million $ in theatres(in the US), and I can understand why.

A lot of people may have said, it`s not Arnie, so why bother? And maybe the genre isn`t really drawing people, unless it`s LOTR.

But on TV, lots of people love Game of Thrones. Only , going to the cinema or watching Tv, that`s something totally different.

Well, for a one-time rental, I can only say-GO FOR IT!

Yea, this one got shredded here in the U.S. by critics and movie fans. I think it mostly has to do with all the CGI and the fact that you just can’t top Arnold. I plan on watching it when it hits DVD, but I was in no rush to run to the theaters and pay good money to see it. I have a feeling I will enjoy it just as much as you did.
